Wittos is personalizing the way we shop with their Smarter WiFi Hotspot. The device integrates advanced mobile analytics with wireless networking. Wittos’ technology allows businesses to better understand a shopper’s online and physical journey through stores to better enhance the customer’s experience in real time.
We sat down with co-founder and engineer, Marius Rarinca to learn more Wittos and their technology.
What are your goals in joining Cisco EIR? What do you hope to accomplish?
We hope to get validation and exposure of our product and to learn from seasoned sales and technical Cisco advisors. We are hoping the EIR program will increase the value of our business and blow wind into our sails (and sales).
When was Wittos founded? Why and by whom?
The company was founded in early 2013 by Amy Lai, and I joined the team after a few months as co-founder.
What makes your technology unique?
It is unique in that we are combining the technology of two market leaders (Cisco and SAP) with a touch or WiFi experience analytics.
How did you get started as an entrepreneur?
It was 15 years ago when I felt the need to implement my ideas freely.
Any advice for young entrepreneurs?
Unleash your mind and think outside the box.
What’s something no one knows about you?
I’m twenty at heart.
What’s the best question about your company or the market you’ve been asked in the last 30 days by a member of the press, an investor or a customer?
How flexible are you in adapting your running product to customers’ needs?
How many hours of sleep do you get?
I try to reach the ideal 7, but sometimes unsolved problems and best solutions keep me awake, eating into my beauty sleep.
What book do you think everyone on your team should read?
I will definitely go for Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis. It is an eye-opener about how to embrace challenge, leading you to uncover your hidden skills. Keep your mind busy at all times and age will never catch up with you.
Give us a fun fact about your startup.
Shooting the first video presentation of the startup turned out to be a hilarious experience. The two young assistants—my boys—were making fun of the situation and I could hardly keep a straight face. We ended up doing so many takes that all my family learned the script by heart.
