Barcelona was the last stop for the startups in our Vienna program before their upcoming demo day at Cisco Live in Berlin. Our startups spent an action packed two days meeting with industry experts, investors and executives. Below is a recap of the trip from Sergio Pozo, co-founder & CEO of Intelliment Security, a startup devoted to revolutionizing security policy management.
It’s hard to believe that this trip is our last before Cisco Live Berlin. It was finally Intelliment Security’s turn to lead our fellow startups Aircloak, CoroNet Security, Sensewaves and Wittos around Barcelona. With only two days, we had a packed schedule. We met with Cisco leaders, partners and others in the local startup ecosystem.
Our first stop was to Startupbootcamp Barcelona, a U.K.-based accelerator. Angel Garcia, co-founder & CEO, gave us a quick overview of the program’s model and founding story. We learned of their relationship with other programs and their sponsors. Our meeting ended with a networking lunch with Garcia and some of Startupbootcamp’s current startups.
The next day was packed with company meetings starting with Active Venture Partners, a VC company in Europe. Georg Stockinger, Venture Advisor, and Esteve Jane, Principal, gave us valuable feedback on our pitches. The conversation ended in a deep discussion about their involvement in the Spanish startup ecosystem. We learned of the competitive landscape, their network, companies they’re targeting, and companies they’ve backed.
After a brief lunch, we met with Daniel Coloma Baiges, the Chief Technology Officer of Data Transparency Lab working on research at Telefonica. Our last meeting was with Xavier Simo, Founder and CEO of INLEA. Simo and I go way back. He was one of my first contacts in Barcelona when we started our network there. Our startup, Intelliment Security was one of the startups in linktoStart, one of the several projects he funded.
And what Cisco EIR trip would be complete without a meeting with some of the members at Cisco? We had a pitch session with Anil Menon, Senior VP of Smart+Connected Communities and Donald De Witte, Product Sales Specialist for Cisco’s Collaboration Solutions.
In between all these meetings, we were busy with internal meetings to prepare for Cisco Live Berlin happening on February 15-19. All of us are excited for the events and opportunities in February to come. We’ll be having our Demo Day soon to mark the end of our journey in the EIR program.
